UAB Center for Palliative Care Journal Club
The mission of the journal club is twofold:
- To encourage active and critical reading of palliative care literature to enhance
the clinical care, research activities, and training experiences within the Center
for Palliative Care.
- To stimulate the growth of a supportive community of learners by providing an opportunity
to eat, drink, and debrief in an informal and comfortable setting.
The Palliative Care Journal Club meets monthly to critically review articles selected
from current palliative literature. Palliative care faculty and fellows, UAB residents,
colleagues from nursing and psychology, and members of the palliative care and hospice
community in Birmingham are invited to participate. Meetings consist of a structured
small group discussion, with a review of selected articles utilizing appropriate
editorial guidelines when possible. All participants rotate responsibility for moderating
the discussion. Interested faculty and trainees are welcome.
