Vision
Adding years to life and life to years.
The Center's mission and goals are met through a wide variety of programs under
the overall supervision of the director, Richard M. Allman, MD. Dr. Allman reports
to the Vice President for Research and eleven sponsoring school deans. The director
and four associate directors serve as the Executive Committee and provide leadership
and oversight for all aspects of the Center’s programs. The Steering Committee includes
all the members of the Executive Committee and additional faculty members appointed
by the director and sponsoring deans to assist with providing guidance for the development,
on-going evaluation, and administration of the Center's programs.
An External Advisory Committee of nationally recognized experts in aging meets every
two to three years to provide recommendations about the Center's programs to the
Director and the Steering Committee. In addition, Deans, Department Chairs, and
other Center Directors provide ongoing guidance on how the Center can most effectively
carry out its mission. A Community Advisory Committee of community leaders with
interests in the problems of older adults meets regularly with the Center Director
to provide recommendations that will help the Center be more responsive to the needs
of older adults in the community. A Board of Counselors provides guidance and leadership
for community outreach and development activities.
