Center for Aging “Dancing with the Silver Stars Awards Dinner”

The UAB Center for Aging will host the inaugural “Dancing with the Silver Stars Awards Dinner” on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at The Club. We invite you to join us in support of this community-wide salute to seniors.

Dancing with the Silver Stars is an exciting new event that will pair local corporate and civic leaders with area professional dancers for a spirited celebration of aging. Local celebrity dancers include Bonnie Bailey, Mary Lynne Capiluto, Jack Schaeffer, Janie Selfe, James Spann and the Division’s own Dr. Douglas Tilt! Fabian and Jackie Sanchez, owners of the local Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hoover, will dance with of each our local star dancers. Fabian is an ABC network Dancing with the Stars veteran competing with actress Marlee Matlin in season six.

John Beard, president and CEO of Alacare Home Health and Hospice, will be honored with the Center’s McCallum Award, which is named for former Vestavia Hills mayor Dr. Scotty McCallum, for his outstanding leadership and service on behalf of the UAB Center for Aging and its mission.
