Clinical & Behavioral Gerontology Research Training Program
NIA Training Grant:
"Clinical and Behavioral Training in Gerontology"
Sponsors:
National Institute on Aging T32 Institutional Training Grant
The training grant was funded from June 2000 through May 2005. Trainees currently
are supported by bridge funding from NIA through May 2006, pending renewal of a
competing continuation application under review.
Purpose:
- To develop the expertise of pre- and postdoctoral trainees in aging research, emphasizing
the content area, methods, and theories of each trainee's chosen scientific discipline
- To expose trainees to multidisciplinary teams so that they become familiar with
other scientific disciplines pertinent to the study of age-related phenomena
- To prepare trainees for independent research careers in aging
Opportunities for Faculty Involvement:
Faculty may apply to join the training program as Program Preceptors. Preceptors
evaluate pre- and postdoctoral candidate applications annually and may serve as
mentors for trainees accepted into the program.
