Driving Simulator

Purpose:
The UAB Driving Simulator is available to investigators interested in driving behaviors.
A resource of the UAB Center for Aging and the UAB Center for Translational Research
on Aging and Mobility, the simulator is located in the Holley Mears Building located
at 924 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35294. Research participants sit behind
the wheel of a Honda Civic and “drive” through scenes projected by laser disc players
onto three screens that compose a lifelike driving situation. A variety of behaviors
and outcomes are monitored and recorded with computer technology.
Services:
- Administer driving simulator tests for researchers
- Create driving scenarios
- Perform driving assessments
Opportunities for Faculty Involvement:
Use as an outcome measure in research.
